Bad Books!
A Denver League Fundraiser

Bad Books, by Sharyn Rothstein, is not just about a polite mother who goes to the library for what she thinks will be a polite conversation with the librarian about a book her son is reading. This play provides a very heated discussion concerning current ideas, censorship, and who gets to decide what children read. Reviewers describe it having dark comedy so it’s not all serious.
It leads playgoers to discuss the purpose of book bans: are they to protect children or control ideas getting into the public? We may even have a tense debate of our own as to whether parents or other entities decide who gets to choose what is “dangerous” or “safe” for young minds?
Come enjoy a stimulating and timely play with friends, family and other Leaguers all in support of the League of Women Voters of Denver. Gather at 1:30 in the Upstairs Bar for some fun socializing before the play begins at 2:00 p.m.
Bring friends and come to this timely play about the messiness of motherhood, the madness of modern outrage, and the quiet heroism of librarians everywhere.
