October 1: Briefing on Denver Ballot Issues
October 15: Briefing Statewide Ballot Issues
The program for the October 15 briefing has been changed. Previously, we planned to focus on the 2024 ballot issues that would affect funding of schools statewide. However, with the withdrawal of Initiatives 80 and 105 from the ballot, and the legislature's compromise around property tax reductions, the school funding is not at such great risk.
Instead, the October 15 briefing will cover in depth the statewide ballot issues that are most pertinent to League positions. This will include: Amendment 79 (Reproductive healthcare and abortion access), Amendment 80 (Right to School Choice), Amendment J (Removing the language banning same-sex marriage), Proposition 131 (Ranked-choice voting), and Proposition KK (tax levy on firearms and ammunition to support victim services, mental health, etc). We will have available the LWV of Colorado's information on all the ballot issues and the state League's decisions regarding their support/non-support of the state issues.
