Speaker: Sara Hazel, CEO of the Denver Public Schools Foundation
The Denver Public Schools Foundation was founded in 1992 as the fundraising partner for the city's public school system. Sara Hazel, its current President and CEO, will speak about the history, purpose and accomplishments of the foundation. Focusing on this past year's challenge for our public schools of a rapid influx of migrant families, Ms. Hazel will describe the New Arrivals, Student and Family Fund.

In spite of having many helpful suggestions for Board members, the Committee continues to struggle to find people willing to serve in the coming year.
At the end of this League year in May, the following positions needed to be filled. Three are now filled by Jeanette Scotland and Bobbie Heisterkamp, but three position remain open.
Director of Organization |
Jeanette Scotland |
Co-Director of Program |
|
Co-Chair of Voter Service. |
|
Treasurer |
Bobbie Heisterkamp |
Development Chair |
Bobbie Heisterkamp |
Technology Coordinator |
|
The most crucial roles remaining vacant are the Co-Director of Program and Co-Chair of Voter Service. Lisa Haddox has been doing an excellent job with Voter Service, and the committee is active and skilled, but this is our most active area, and some support would be very useful. Sue Stark, who is also doing an amazing job, is looking for a Co-Director of Program.
New members Janice Abbot and Deborah Katz have expressed an interest in serving on the Board while they learn more about Denver and the Denver League—though both are new to the area, they are experienced Leaguers. The Committee is thinking of them as Board members in training who will find where they can be useful in the coming year. | | |
